Most YouTube videos have auto-generated transcripts that you can access directly from the video page. The transcript feature is hidden in the video menu but easy to find once you know where to look.
How to find the transcript on YouTube
Open the YouTube video in a browser (not the mobile app)
Click the three-dot menu below the video title
The transcript panel opens on the right
Use Ctrl+F to search within the transcript
Download or copy a YouTube transcript
To copy the transcript, click in the transcript panel, select all text (Ctrl+A), and copy it. For a cleaner, more accurate transcript with speaker labels and an AI summary, import the video into Talk2Memo.
